Bruce Conner Homage by the Mutants
Bruce Conner loved this event the Mutants staged for him, he called me, still alive, to share his excitement about what his friends did for him. The resulting video is fantastic and really captures his essence. Conner is the artist I’m currently creating museum prints for, or for his estate, I should say. See them at MCA Denver near the beginning of 2012.
A Video of Me at “Work”
This is a video by Cinthea Fiss, a friend/artist associated with the early San Francisco punk band the Mutants, a band I shot in the late 1970s. Here I’m at work for a defunct museum space in Colorado (Lab at Belmar).
Show I Helped Jury Closing Tonight
A show I helped jury with these two other characters (well known photographer Mark Sink on the left, and BMOCA Associate Curator Petra Sertic in the middle, is closing tonight with a burning gallery party. I’m in the last photo here. The show, “Down the Rabbit Hole,” uses imaginative photo-based work borne to the world via channels of the collective unconscious, or something.
Be there or you won’t be there, Hinterland Art Space, 33rd and Walnut in Denver. Probably, there will be people there until at least 11p…
60 Years Young, 48 Years of Photography, Art and Writing
Wow, today is my 60th birthday. Never thought I’d live this long!
I love this photo of me by friend and amazing photographer Alfred Pagano. I’m sitting in a chair at my parents’ house which is said to originally belong to Ulysses S. Grant, and I seem to be dreaming about about the cool year to come with my family and the art world…
Looking forward to an amazing year in the art world thanks to people like the stunning and cunning museum director Adam Lerner, and Robert Conway, the cool and intelligent person I’m working with for the Bruce Conner estate. Watch for a fantastic high-art show of Bruce Conner prints I’ve created at MCA Denver in early 2012, and an affiliated show of my own work at the same time! Hopefully, a book/portfolio of my own work will come out at the same time, including some written words about me by Adam.
This year I’m planning shows at local galleries including a family show of my amazing artist-family, a new Heads of Hydra show, and a large show of my own bodies of work that will not be included in a 2012 show.
I don’t mind being 60 because, fortunately, I never grew up!

This is a video I helped to create, so I guess it’s the first music video I’ve worked on!
A Something or Other That Has No Name in Any Language opens!
This is a new show I curated of photographers and writers, and it opens tonight!
New works by David Zimmer, Sabin Aell, Richard Peterson, John Babbock, Cornelia Peterson, Mark Sink, and Carson Reed.
The opening is Friday March 19 from 6p — 10p at Vertigo Art Space, 960 Santa Fe Drive in Denver, CO.
The public reading by Carson Reed will be at 8:14p.
Roger Green provides the ambience for the evening with his eclectic music.
Fantastic Event
Thanks to everyone that came to my Punk Art 1970s speaking event last Saturday. Enough people showed up to fill the place with standing room only, and other people left without coming inside because they couldn’t get through the door. I was honored that so many people were enthusiastic to hear my crazy wild stories that go with my Punk photo collection. Also sold prints, met some very interesting people. Wow, what a night!
Tonight
I’ll be at St. Mark’s tonight for a casual opening of my Search & Destroy show of vintage Punk and New Wave photography. I’ll be there from 6p — midnight this April 10, which also happens to be my birthday.
If you can’t make it tonight, the show will be open all days until the end of April. Show location is 2019 East 17th Street in Denver.
